Actuarial Expert and Litigation Support
I think of actuaries as applied mathematicians, with minors in economics and business. We are analysts that layer probability on top of finance. My expertise is on the people side – and the financial security systems that address the uncertainties of life expectancy and health status.
As the sole proprietor of Independent Actuarial Services, I consult with attorneys, regulators, and plan sponsors. Attorneys may require economic damage measurements in civil actions. Regulators may need to confirm that employment costs passed onto ratepayers are in the best interest of ratepayers. Attorneys and regulators may require expert witness services supporting the analysis and communicating to the trier of fact. Plan sponsors may require an independent assessment of their employee benefit programs or a review of their service provider performance.
I am passionate about solving problems, learning and teaching others. As such, I am active in SOA and Academy work-groups dedicated to furthering the profession. I am also passionate about explaining my work in a manner accessible to the broader business and legal community, and have given several presentations on actuarial matters of interest.
